The Nepali Congress Lumbini Province Parliamentary Party is going to wait for some time to decide whether to participate in the Lumbini Province government or recall its ministers.

An informal meeting held with the party leaders, chief whips and whips has agreed that the minister will not resign immediately.

The party leader concluded that further consultation is needed on the latest political situation in the province and has decided to wait for some time to decide on resignation and withdrawal of support. Party leader Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary had called a meeting of the Congress ministers, chief whips and whips participating in the government. Although the future of the government was discussed in the meeting, no concrete decision has been made.

According to chief whip Jamuna Dhakal, the discussions could not be concluded as all the ministers in the government were unable to attend the meeting. 'Some of the five ministers in the government are in Kathmandu while some are in their home districts.' It has been agreed that a decision will be taken only after discussing with all the ministers at once. "Therefore, we have agreed to wait for a day," she said. "We are in continuous discussions." While it is being estimated that the Nepali Congress at the center will end its power partnership with the CPN-UML, the impact of which will also affect the provincial governments, the Congress in Lumbini has indicated that it will not take any immediate steps.

The Lumbini Provincial Assembly has 83 members. UML has 29, Congress has 27, and CPN has 13 MPs. Since the Congress and CPN will reach 40 MPs if they join hands, the support of other small parties seems to be crucial to gather the required 42 votes to form the government.

Currently, the Lumbini Provincial Government includes Urban Development and Drinking Water Minister Saroj Thapa (Rose Rana), Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Dhanendra Karki, Minister for Industry, Tourism and Transport Prachanda Bikram Neupane, Minister for Social Development Janmajya Timilsina, and Minister for Forest and Environment Devkaran Prasad Kalwar from the Congress.

Similarly, Yamuna Roka Tamang, Chief Whip of CPN-UML Lumbini Province, said that the current power equation of the provincial government is not in a position to change immediately. 'There has been some disagreement on issues including the budget in other provinces.' But there is no such situation in Lumbini. The political equation of the center will be clear in a day or two,' she said, 'After that, the necessary political process will move forward here too.' She also said that the UML wants to continue its cooperation with the Congress and will propose cooperation with other parties, including the CPN, only if the Congress breaks off cooperation.'
