The police have seized and destroyed fake honey that was sold at the district headquarters Tamghas Bazaar. Four quintals of honey were brought to the Tamghas Bus Park on the night of 11th May for sale. The police destroyed it after testing confirmed that the honey was fake.
Police took the honey under control on 11th May on suspicion that it was an inedible substance that looked like honey, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Bir Bishwakarma, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Gulmi. After that, a sample of the honey was sent to the Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office, Tansen Palpa for testing. The police have said that the honey was destroyed because it was found to be fake and not as per the standards and mixed with inedible substances.
The inedible substance that looked like honey was dug up and buried in a pit inside the premises of the District Police Office, Gulmi, with the participation of representatives from the District Administration Office, Gulmi, Resunga Municipality, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gulmi on Tuesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishwakarma, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Gulmi, said that the four quintals of honey seized were destroyed after testing showed it to be inedible.
