The floods in various rivers of Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality have caused major damage to hydropower, drinking water and other infrastructure.

Due to the day-long rain on Friday, the rivers, including Ledo and Gegran, flooded in the evening. The canal of the Tamagar Khola Micro Hydropower Project and the road leading to Pelma have collapsed, while the source of the hot water in Ward 6 Dimmurgaira has been submerged.

The biggest damage was caused to the source of the hot water when the rains in the Tamagar Khola, Nar Khola, Nadu Khola, Sa Khola and Adheri Khola merge with the Sanibheri River, said Puniraj Gharti, the chairman of the municipality. ‘We had built various structures there for bathing in hot water with the investment of the municipality and the provincial government. After the flood, it was damaged,’ he said.

The flood of the Tamagar River has disrupted electricity service in Hukam village after the canal of the small hydropower project near Hukam, Ward 5, collapsed, Ward Chairman Tikasai Gharti said. He also informed that the construction materials on the road under construction connecting Hukam to Pelma collapsed. District Police Chief DSP Khumananda Pandey said that the work of collecting details of the damage is underway.
