The Gen-G movement and the election have affected the case completion rate of the Rupandehi District Court . The Rupandehi District Court has not been able to complete the cases as per the target in the fiscal year 2082/083
According to the Rupandehi District Court, the target of completing 68.54 percent of cases in the fiscal year 2082/083 is 53.77 percent, as of Asad 17. Out of the 7,642 cases transferred from the previous fiscal year and newly registered in the current fiscal year, 4,109 have been completed so far .
Rupandehi District Judge Ashok Kumar Basnet said that although some more cases will be completed by the end of the fiscal year and the target will be reached, the target will not be met The main reason for this was the damage to the court during the Gen-G movement and the fact that judges and employees had to work during the elections.
‘The Gen-G movement burned many equipment including information technology software, and work had to be suspended for about two months. It also became difficult to comply with deadlines,’ said Judge Basnet at an interaction program organized by the Rupandehi Court with media personnel. ‘Elections, caseload, lack of staff, and lack of equipment and budget are also other factors.’
According to him, physical infrastructure worth more than 1.9 million was damaged in the court during the Gen-G movement. There are currently 134 pending cases in the Rupandehi Court that have been pending for more than 2 years. There are 250 cases between 18 months and 2 years, and 3,149 cases within 18 months. Out of a total of 176 cases related to children, 108 have been finalized.
