The Land Problem Resolution Commission, Bardiya, distributed land ownership certificates to squatters and landless Dalit families of Khaireni, Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-4 on Thursday.

The commission's central chairman Balram Bastola, Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal and other committee members jointly distributed the certificates to 29 people. District chairman of the commission, Pradya Gogan Bahadur Hamal, said that the certificates were distributed to 27 landless and 2 Dalit squatters. He said that the 6 bighas of land distributed to 29 people were public. A maximum of 6 katha land certificates were distributed to one person as per their rightful ownership.

Earlier, more than 14,000 squatters had applied for land acquisition in the commission formed to resolve land issues. Before the dissolution of the commission's committee, 33,000 unorganized settlers had filled out the forms, said DFO Vijayraj Subedi of the Division Forest Office, a member of the commission.

He said that out of a total of 47,000 forms, 58,000 households had filled out the forms. "This data shows that people from grandfather to grandson of the same family have filled out the forms," ​​he said. Earlier, the Land Problem Resolution Commission had faced problems in providing land after a large number of applications were received from Dalit squatters, landless squatters, and unorganized settlers.
