The Susta Bachau Abhiyan and Susta Bachau Youth Campaign have demanded an end to the encroachment on Nepal's land and borders.

They have demanded effective diplomatic initiatives to immediately resolve border security, citizenship of Susta residents, and problems seen in the border area. They also demand immediate provision of Nepali citizenship to Susta residents, distribution of land titles after surveying the land they have been occupying, and making border security more effective.

Susta Bachau Youth Campaigner Yogendra Gautam, at a press conference organized in Butwal, demanded the government to immediately resolve border security, citizenship of Susta residents, and problems seen in the border area. Gautam has been continuously running the Susta Bachau Campaign since 2067 BS. They said that the government should take diplomatic initiatives to proceed with the stalled embankment and fence construction work along the Narayani River.

Campaign Chairman Adam Khan demanded that responsible officials of government bodies should make public statements on sensitive border-related issues only based on official facts. He complained that despite informing the Prime Ministers about the Susta problem several times after 2062 BS, they were not interested in solving it.

Rabindra Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Susta Bachau Abhiyan, said that preparations are underway to go to Kathmandu soon to draw the Prime Minister's attention to the Susta problem.  The campaign has also warned that if the government does not address its demands, it will hold protest programs including sit-ins from the first week of Shrawan.  'The government should listen to the Susta problem on time and solve it,' he said, 'otherwise we are ready for any kind of movement.

At the press conference, Munna Khan and Laila Begum of the Susta Bachau Abhiyan also complained that the government has not been serious about the citizenship problem of the Susta people and border encroachment for a long time.  They have also been demanding that the government ensure access of the Susta people to basic services including education, health, roads, communication in the border area and give high priority to resolving the border dispute.
