The District Monitoring Committee has fined the Royal Cottage Restaurant in Bardaghat Municipality-2, West Nawalparasi, Rs. 50,000. Assistant Chief District Officer Poshan Raj Bhandari had conducted a monitoring at the hotel after the hotel found snails in the food while eating. The fine was imposed after the food hygiene standards were violated and the ingredients used in the hotel were found to be unsanitary, said Assistant Chief District Officer Poshan Raj Bhandari. A joint monitoring team including the Assistant Chief District Officer and the Cottage and Small Industries Office immediately conducted the monitoring and fined the restaurant Rs. 50,000 and instructed it not to make such mistakes in the future. The team, which had gone out to monitor the wards of Bardaghat Municipality to declare them child-friendly, had gone to eat at the hotel after the monitoring.
