Gulmi's Malika Rural Municipality has decided to deposit five thousand rupees in the name of the child as soon as the child is born to a couple residing within the municipality. The budget was also included in this program while presenting the annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 on Wednesday.

The 'Newborn Child Welfare Fund' has been established and included in the budget in the annual budget presented by the Rural Municipality Vice-Chairman Upendra Aryal. According to which, the municipality will deposit five thousand rupees in the child's account as soon as the child is born to a couple residing within Malika.

The municipality, which is preparing to include everything in this related procedure, will include criteria such as the child born to a couple residing within Malika, the birth registration being done within 35 days, the pregnancy test being done as per the standards at a health institution within the municipality, and the child being married and having a child only after reaching the age of 20.

Malika Rural Municipality Chairman Deviram Aryal said that this program has been brought to provide financial support for the study expenses of children until they reach higher education, to encourage them to get married only after reaching the age of 20, and to help create a child-friendly municipality. He said that both children will be included in this program. According to him, around 260 children are born annually and 1.3 million rupees have been allocated for this purpose.

The rural municipality has brought an annual budget and program worth 586 million 96 thousand for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84.
