Butwal Sub-metropolitan City has proposed an estimated budget of Rs 3.85 billion for the fiscal year 2083/084. Deputy Mayor of the Sub-metropolitan City Savitradevi Aryal presented the budget in the city assembly on Wednesday.

The budget, which was brought with the slogan ‘Equality, Self-respect and Opportunity – Livable Butwal City’, is estimated to have 52 percent of the total expenditure on current and 48 percent on capital. According to the expenditure estimate of the proposed budget, 28 percent of the budget has been allocated for social development and 12 percent on economic development.

For the resource management of the budget, it is estimated that 292.2 million will be received from the federal government as federal equalization grant, 502.5 million as conditional grant (current), 744.0 million as conditional grant (capital), 900.0 million as special grant (capital) and 200.0 million as supplementary grant (capital). Similarly, it is projected that the provincial government will receive Rs 23.65 million for provincial equalization grant, Rs 56.5 million for conditional grant (current), Rs 17.3 million for conditional grant (capital), Rs 15 million for supplementary grant (capital) and Rs 2 million for special grant (capital).

It is estimated that Rs 194.38 million will be received from the federal government and Rs 27.61 million from the provincial government for revenue sharing. The target for the city's internal resource management is to collect Rs 1.5 billion 38.59 million for local internal resources. In addition, Rs 787.778 million will be received from the sale of advertisements, entertainment tax and Dahatar Bahttar under local revenue sharing, and a total of Rs 3.85 billion is expected to be earned, including a saving of Rs 400 million from the last fiscal year.
