Two teenagers who went missing while swimming in the Kaligandaki River have been found dead. On Thursday evening, Pujan Gaha, 24, and Shishir Gaha, 14, both residents of Shikhardanda, Bagnaskali Rural Municipality-6, Palpa, drowned while swimming in the Kaligandaki River in Mandran of the same ward.
The bodies were found on Friday in the lower reaches of the Kaligandaki River during a search operation with the help of the police, Armed Police Force, and locals. DSP Bhimlal Bhattarai, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Palpa, said that the bodies of Shishir and Pujan were found in the same place and at Tipuwaghat in Pujan.
The search was hampered by the turbid water in the Kaligandaki River. Earlier, two youths who had gone to celebrate the New Year in Dailatung, Bagnaskali-7, drowned.
