With the aim of making crime and accident control effective by increasing the use of modern technology, the Lumbini Provincial Police Office has launched a 'Hryak for Safety' peace walk and a special public awareness program.

The public awareness program has been started at the training center of the Provincial Police Office, Butwal, from Saturday. Lumbini Provincial Police Chief Deputy Inspector General of Police Bhupendra Bahadur Khatri said that a 'Hryak for Safety' peace walk and a special public awareness program have been organized in Lumbini from Jestha 30 to Asad 1.

According to him, special emphasis will be placed on reducing road accidents, preventing suicide, controlling crime and increasing social awareness through a community-centered campaign. Artists from Silpi Theater will also perform a public awareness play in the program. Under 'Hyak for Safety', youth interested in technology, students, developers, engineers and innovators will be involved in finding ways to deal with current security challenges. For that, a competition has been organized for youth in the technology sector to make police services more effective through the use of modern technology. Out of 344 people interested in the technology sector, more than 100 are said to be participating in the competition. DIG Khatri said that the police is preparing to take forward the innovative plans and concepts obtained from the

competition as a policy. 'The police are trying to find new concepts and solutions in areas such as a system where complaints can be registered from home with the help of technology selected from the Hyak for Safety competition, crowd management, security surveillance and use of technology in crime investigation,' he said. 'We are taking forward such a program based on the experience of two police inspectors who have returned from studying and training abroad in the Lumbini Provincial Police.'

Citing the example of successful implementation of modern technology by Delhi and Mumbai Police, he said that this is also being taken forward as an important campaign in Nepal Police. DIG Khatri said that if this campaign started from Lumbini Province is effective, it will be expanded nationwide.

The peace walk starting from Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, with the slogan 'Social Commitment, Safe Society' will spread the message of peace, tolerance, social harmony and collective responsibility. Rupandehi Police Chief SP Janak Bahadur Shahi said that as part of the public awareness program, discussions will be held with stakeholders from the youth and society on issues such as increasing cybercrime, drug abuse, road safety, suicide reduction, digital security. He said that the program will further strengthen the relationship between the community and the police and contribute to the development of modern, technology-friendly and citizen-friendly police services.
