An Assistant Police Constable of the Armed Police Force, who was on duty, was killed and another was injured when a truck (B.P. 03-001 Kha 1412) coming from Nepalgunj towards Gulariya at a high speed hit him.
The incident took place at Lalpur on the Hulaki Road section of Gulariya Municipality-11 at 5:30 am on Sunday while two buffaloes and a donkey that were being illegally taken to India were being taken to the Customs Office in Gulariya, police said.
Armed Police Force Assistant Constable Tilak Kadel, who was seriously injured and working in Ganeshpur, died during treatment at the District Hospital in Bardiya, said Armed Police Superintendent Dinesh Kumar Mahat.
Armed Police Force jawan Deepak Kumar Jung Shah, who was injured in the truck hit, has been referred to the Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur for further treatment, said Armed Police Superintendent Mahat. Three buffaloes and a donkey were also seriously injured in the incident.
DSP Resham Bohora, Information Officer of the District Police Office, said that the truck and its driver have been taken into custody and necessary investigation has been initiated. The truck was heading towards the tile industry in Gularia.
