The Ghorahi-Thawang Shahid Highway, which was blocked due to landslides after a few days of rain, has been reopened.
The road that was blocked since Wednesday has been reopened with the active efforts of the police. Traffic movement was completely disrupted due to a landslide along with rocks in the Talabang section of Shahid Marg in Parivartan Rural Municipality-1 of the district.
After the road was closed due to the landslide, the road was reopened with the efforts of teams deployed from police posts Kureli and Putlachaur and locals. After the landslide was cleared and the road was brought into operation, the stalled vehicles have moved towards their destinations.
The local administration has urged people to be vigilant as the risk of landslides has increased on various rural roads in the district with the onset of the rainy season. Chief District Officer Ganga Bahadur Chhetri said that everyone has been instructed to be vigilant.
According to the police, even though the road has been reopened, there is a possibility of landslides again in the area due to continuous rain. Passengers and drivers have been requested to travel carefully.
