Similarly, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Dilliraj Bhusal has decided to move forward the process of identifying potential pond and reservoir-based multipurpose projects within the province. Immediately after assuming office, Minister Bhusal has decided to move forward the necessary process for identifying, studying and implementing pond and reservoir-based projects that can be constructed in various districts of the province, and has also directed the employees and district offices.
Secretary of the Ministry, Churna Bahadur Wali, said that it has been decided to identify and survey potential pond and reservoir-based multipurpose projects within the province in the upcoming fiscal year 2083/2084 and arrange the necessary budget and program to prepare a project list. According to the Ministry, the importance of pond and reservoir-based projects is increasing in addressing the challenges arising from climate change. Secretary Wali said that by using the water collected from such projects, irrigation facilities can be provided in the surrounding areas throughout the year, agricultural production will increase, and the groundwater level in the Terai region will be replenished.
Similarly, the construction of reservoirs and ponds will positively contribute to the conservation of biodiversity, promotion of ecotourism, and development of the local economy, the Ministry stated. ‘The policy and program of the Lumbini Province Government for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084 includes the identification and detailed study of small and medium reservoir projects,’ said Minister Bhusal. ‘Accordingly, we have decided to make the management and implementation of the budget effective.’
Similarly, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Khatri has signed the decision to formulate the program and budget for the fiscal year 2083/084. After assuming office in the ministry, Minister Khatri said that the decision was made keeping road accident reduction, strengthening road safety and planned infrastructure development in mind. "Road safety structures including black spots and crash barriers will be constructed through the Road Infrastructure Development Office," Minister Khatri said. "Road safety audits will be conducted by an expert team through the Transport Infrastructure Directorate to identify and improve technical weaknesses in roads." He said that while deciding the annual program for the upcoming fiscal year, it has been decided to give high priority to road safety programs and select programs based on the roads included in the provincial road network master plan and projects completed by Falgun. The ministry stated that this decision will increase the effectiveness of the budget by reducing the number of fragmented and low-return projects, making road infrastructure development planned, and further strengthening passenger safety.
