Balaram Thapa has been unanimously elected as the president of the first district convention of the National Independent Party (NISP) Rolpa. The convention held in Libang on Saturday elected a 10-member district working committee and a 4-member advisory committee under Thapa's leadership.
Bhupendra Singh Wali has been elected as the vice-president of the working committee, Hira Bahadur Gharti Magar as the secretary, Balaram Dangi as the joint secretary, and Pipla Chand Sen as the treasurer. Similarly, Dharmaraj Bhandari, Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Muna Dangi, Hira Khadka and Sandeep Thapa Magar have been elected as the members.
Thapa, a local of Gajul in Rolpa, was the vice-president of the ad hoc committee and is a candidate in the previous election to the House of Representatives. He left the construction business and entered politics. Secretary Gharti is a former journalist, while working committee members Bhandari is a former police inspector and Sharma is a former journalist and advocate.
An advisory committee including Toyram Thapa, Dadhiram Regmi, Ramlal Bharati and Lal Bahadur Dangi has also been formed from the convention.
