Bishnu Prasad Bhandari has been elected unopposed as the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) in the first district convention held in Tansen, Palpa. An attempt was made to reach a consensus for the office bearers and members in the closed session that began immediately after the afternoon inauguration session. Som Prasad Gaire, who was unopposed for the post of vice-president, and President Bhandari were in a tug-of-war until late in the evening, but they were finally elected unopposed.
According to the election committee, Bhandari and Gaire reached an agreement after discussions and efforts to reach a consensus. President Bhandari, a resident of Tansen Municipality-9, is also the chairman of the previous ad hoc committee. Gaire, from Baganaskali Rural Municipality-7, Khanigaun, was also the vice-president before. Among the four aspirants for the post of secretary, Hari Prasad Neupane of Rampur and Joint Secretary Dilip Ghimire were elected unopposed.
Similarly, no election was held for the post of treasurer in this convention and the district committee is going to make the necessary decision and nominate the candidate in the coming days. Durga Kumari Aryal, Avita Nepali, Dipendra Gaha, Prem Rana, Ishwori Pokharel were elected unopposed, informed Election Coordinator Mahendra Gupta. Earlier, District President Bhandari, while presenting the report at the convention, had said that conventions had been held in Tansen and Rampur municipalities, Baganaskali rural municipality, Rambha rural municipality, and other municipalities in Palpa. He said that conventions would be held in the remaining local levels soon. There were 210 representatives for the district convention.
