Two students have died after being swept away by the Khahare River in Ratamata, Gangadev Rural Municipality-6, in the western part of Rolpa. They were swept away by the river while returning home from school on Wednesday evening. According to the police, the deceased are Gopal Khadka, 7-year-old son of Nim Bahadur Khadka, a resident of Ratamata, Gangadev Rural Municipality-6, and Samir KC, 6-year-old son of local Sarbajit Khatri. Both were studying at the local Bida Bikash Secondary School. Both the children were swept away when they tried to cross the river with a sudden flood and a river.

The search for the child was initiated by the police and locals deployed from the Jinawang Police Post. The police and locals only got information that the children went missing after being swept away by the river in Khahare River on Wednesday in the evening. Upon receiving the information, additional police teams from Jinawang and Ghartigaun were deployed to the scene and searched for the child's body.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, said Police Inspector Krishna Shrestha, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Rolpa. The incident is located about 70 kilometers west of Liwang, the Rolpa district headquarters.
