The National Independent Party (NIP), which has been conducting a campaign to expand its organization and select new leaders across the country, has selected leaders from the conventions of 15 out of 16 local levels in Rupandehi as of Thursday. Out of 15, 6 local levels were elected unopposed and 9 were elected through elections. According to District President Dr. Buddhi Prasad Sharma, the convention of Lumbini Cultural Municipality is yet to be held. In addition, unanimous leadership has been selected in Marchwari, Sammarimai, Mayadevi, Shuddhodhan, Siyari Rural Municipality and Sainamaina Municipality.

Leadership has been selected through elections in Butwal Sub-metropolitan Municipality, Tilottama, Siddharthanagar, Devdaha Municipality. Similarly, leadership has also been selected through elections in Omsatiya, Kanchan, Kotahimai, Rohini and Gaidahawa Rural Municipality.

In most local levels, new people have come to the leadership through elections, said President Dr. Sharma. ‘Rupandehi is fertile ground for leaders in all parties,’ he said, ‘that problem is the same in ours, that is why despite efforts to reach consensus in many places, it was not possible, we have selected the leadership through elections.’
