The resignations of four ministers from Lumbini Province, who submitted their collective resignations, have been accepted.

Lumbini's Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Bhumishwar Dhakal, Minister for Health Khem Bahadur Saru Magar, Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives Dinesh Panthi and Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Sita Sharma Chaudhary resigned on Wednesday morning.

Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has accepted the resignations of all four ministers and has started the process of appointing new ministers. According to sources, Ratna Bahadur Khatri of Banke, Dilli Raj Bhusal of Gulmi, Ramji Ghimire of Arghakhanchi and Tulsi Prasad Chaudhary of Rupandehi are likely to be the new ministers. The ministries have not been finalized and preparations are being made to finalize the ministries on Wednesday, said Chief Minister Acharya's personal secretary Pradeep Nepali. Although the resignations of the ministers have been accepted, the recommendation and oath-taking of the new ministers will not be done before Friday. Since Province Chief Krishna Bahadur Gharti Magar is outside Lumbini Province, the swearing-in of the new ministers will not be done immediately.

UML Parliamentary Party leader Chet Narayan Acharya is currently the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. The Congress has been taking a stand to change the government with the leadership as per the previous agreement. Although there was an attempt to change the ministers in the first week of Jestha, the issue of changing the ministers was delayed after the Congress parliamentary party said that it would reorganize the government including the Chief Minister at the same time. However, after the resignation of the UML minister, pressure has also increased on those who became ministers from the Congress. Those waiting to become ministers within the Congress have also started putting pressure on the ministers.

When he came to inaugurate the Jara campaign organized by the Central Policy Department of the Congress in Butwal on Tuesday and Wednesday, President Gagan Thapa had instructed the ministers to bring a good budget. He had suggested that it would be more appropriate to change the issue of changing the ministers after the budget is received rather than when the budget preparation is about to be finalized. Therefore, the resignation of the UML minister has increased the pressure on the Congress ministers who were confident. The Congress parliamentary party meeting held on Jestha 11 had decided to request the center to take the initiative to change the ministers including the Chief Minister, not just the ministers.

Congress President Amar Singh Pun said that there is confusion as the budget is approaching whether to change only the ministers or change the leadership after the budget. ‘Now, we have moved forward as per the agreement to change the cabinet under the leadership of the Congress,’ he said, ‘but there is still confusion about changing only the ministers before the budget.’ He said that even if new ministers come, there will not be a big problem as the budget will be prepared with the help of the current ministers.

The Lumbini Province Government has decided to establish 8 ministries from July 1. The government has also mentioned the issue prominently in its policy program. However, there is an earlier verbal agreement that the party that gets the Chief Minister in collaboration with the Congress will get three ministers and the other party will get 4 ministers.
