Storms have wreaked havoc in most wards of Malika Rural Municipality in Gulmi. The strong winds that hit between 8 pm and 9 pm on Monday damaged hundreds of houses and structures.

Although the storm damaged structures in many places in Neta, Darling and Ghamir, the police have so far consolidated the data only for Ghamir. According to Bhimkiran Bogati, Chief Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Gulmi, more than 45 structures have been damaged in Ghamir alone. He said that the collection of damage details in other areas is ongoing.

The storm, accompanied by water, damaged the roofs of houses and toilets and even the school. The roofs of most of the structures have been blown off. Some structures in Wards 2 and 3 of Musikot Municipality have also been damaged. One structure has also been damaged in Madane Rural Municipality-1. Other places in Malika have also suffered major damage. The police are collecting details of the damage.

Malika Rural Municipality Chairman Deviram Aryal said that more than 150 houses have been damaged and the number could be more than 200. He said that the police are collecting details of the damage. It is estimated that more than 200 structures in Malika alone, including Chairman Aryal, have been damaged.

Speaking on this issue during the emergency session of Parliament on Tuesday, MP Govinda Panthi demanded immediate relief for 600 people from 150 households displaced by the storm in Malika. He demanded that the victims be made to feel that the government is there, including temporary housing.
