One more person has died in Palpa after falling ill after eating poisonous wild mushrooms. Dhan Bahadur Pariyar, 62, of Mityal Bhirapani, Nisdi Rural Municipality-4, died on Tuesday, said Rem Bahadur Disha Magar, head of the health department.
According to him, Pariyar, who fell ill after eating mushroom vegetables, was taken to Madhyabindu Hospital in Nawalpur for treatment. After treatment was not possible at Madhyabindu, he was taken to Chitwan Medical College in Chitwan for treatment, but the hospital sent him back home after his condition did not improve.
His wife, 65-year-old Urmila Pariyar, has returned home after returning to normal after treatment. Although Mityal's house is in Bhirpani, both of them had been living in a shed in the valley (towards Arunkhola). Magar, the head of the health department, said that they fell ill after eating a type of mushroom called 'Gwaru Mugan' in the Magar language. He said that such mushrooms are consumed in the village because they look like a bunch and are sweet when eaten.
Earlier, Binimaya Kamu Magar, 66, and Balkumari Khamcha, 37, of Rambha Rural Municipality-5, Tahu Khalkun, and Anup Rana, 8, of Madanpokhara Kokal, Tansen Municipality-8, died during treatment in Palpa. The health office has stated that Kamu Magar and Khamcha died during treatment at Mission Hospital and Lumbini Medical College in Rana. 17 people had fallen ill after consuming wild poisonous mushrooms since Jestha 17.
