UK's Deputy Minister for Indo-Pacific and Equalities Seema Malhotra has said that Lumbini is a place of inspiration and harmony for everyone. During her visit to Lumbini, the excavations carried out in Lumbini and Kapilvastu with the support of the UK government, UNESCO and Durham University revealed many important facts, so she said that it is everyone's responsibility to protect historical and archaeological sites. After Lumbini, she visited Tilaurakot, the ancient Kapilvastu, the palace of King Suddhodana and the archaeological site where Prince Siddhartha spent his 29 years of youth. Senior archaeologists Kosh Prasad Acharya and Basanta Bidari and British archaeologist Dr. Mark Manuel informed Deputy Minister Malhotra about the scientific studies and research conducted in Lumbini and Kapilvastu. British Ambassador to Nepal Robert (Rob) Fenn was also present on the occasion.
Similarly, a meeting was held between Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya and British Government Deputy Minister Seema Malhotra at Hotel Tiger Palace in Kotihawa on Saturday. On that occasion, discussions were held on the historical and friendly relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom, development partnership, and development priorities of Lumbini Province.
Lumbini Province Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Kapri, Provincial Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Dr. Dilliraj Aryal, and British Ambassador Fenn, among others, were present at the meeting.
