A memorial has been built in memory of women who were victims of sexual violence during the armed conflict that lasted for 10 years in Nepal since 2052. The memorial has been built in the View Tower complex in Banglachuli Rural Municipality-5.

The memorial was unveiled on Thursday. District Coordination Committee Chief Nityananda Sharma, Chief District Officer Bishwaprakash Aryal, District Police Chief SP Deepak Shrestha, Banglachuli Rural Municipality Chairman Tulsiram Pun, Vice President Bhakta Bahadur GC, founding chairman of Nepal Women's Community Service Center Bimala Yogi, current chairman Kalpana Neupane and others unveiled the memorial.

Hari Bahadur Dhami, program manager of Nagarik Awaz, which has been providing regular counseling to 105 women who were victims of sexual violence during the armed conflict in Dang, said.

The memorial was built in collaboration with Global Survival Fund, Nagarik Awaz, Nepal Women's Community Service Center and the rural municipality.

More than 4,000 women who have been sexually assaulted across the country have filed petitions for justice with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. While some work has been done for other conflict victims, victims complain that there has been no work done for justice for women who have been sexually assaulted.
