Rights activists have urged people to be serious about the health condition of Rubi Khan, who has been on a hunger strike for 20 days with various demands, and to find a solution through dialogue.

Khan, who is in bed number 14 of Sanjivani Hospital in Nepalgunj, is now in critical condition. Doctors are giving her saline water. Even after all these days, the issues she has raised have not been resolved through dialogue and legal means, and her health condition has become serious, so a team of human rights defenders reached the hospital on Tuesday.

Senior advocate and coordinator of the Public Concerned Lawyers Group Sunil Shrestha, Lumbini Province Coordinator of INSEC Bhola Mahat, Federation of Nepali Journalists, Banke President Navin Giri, Lumbini Province Coordinator of Advocacy Forum Basanta Gautam, President of the Information and Human Rights Research Center Bishwajit Tiwari and others met Khan and the doctors treating her to understand her condition.

They met the Chief District Officer, Police Chief, and officials of the National Human Rights Commission and informed them about the incident and urged them to find a solution. The rights activists have said, ‘We urge you to resolve the demands raised by Ruby Khan in a legal manner, respecting the right to life and the right to health of citizens.’

They have also warned Khan, saying, ‘We request you to adopt alternative and dialogue-oriented measures of the movement in accordance with the values, norms and principles of human rights, while paying attention to the protection of health and life.’

The police have said that they are working on the nine incidents raised by Khan.
