He says that even though there was an agreement to take Nirmala Kurmi's case to court immediately after the Falgun 21 election, the victim was forced to go on a hunger strike after not getting justice for years because it was limited to that issue.

Rights activist Ruby Khan, who has been on a hunger strike in the premises of the District Police Office, Banke for 14 days, is now admitted to Nepalgunj Medical College after her health condition deteriorated. But her hunger strike has not stopped even in the hospital bed.
Khan has been on an indefinite hunger strike since April 15, demanding 9 points, including taking the murder case of Nirmala Kurmi and Gudiya Kahar to court immediately, filing supplementary complaints against 3 more people in the case of minor Dipesh Chamar, who died without treatment, and taking action against the doctor who referred her without treatment.
Khan said that the protest, including hunger strike, has been launched for the sixth time because the government has been ignoring her despite her repeated calls to take action against those involved in the murder case of Nirmala Kurmi.
‘The police administration has repeatedly suppressed our voice,’ Khan said, ‘There is a lot of hope and trust from the current government, but our struggle for speedy action will continue.’ She alleges that even though the government has agreed to take action against those involved in Kurmi’s murder for the fifth time, it has not been implemented and there is no intention to take her case to court.
Even though it was agreed to take Nirmala Kurmi’s case to court immediately after the Falgun 21 election, it was limited to that matter, and the victim was forced to go on a hunger strike after not getting justice for years.
Nirmala’s husband Mahlu Kurmi died in 2062. Four years after losing her husband, Nirmala lost her two sons Ramsagar and Suresh within a span of 10 days in Mangsir 2066.
Nirmala, who was devastated by the loss of her two sons and husband, was taken hostage and beaten up. Nirmala's citizenship, death certificates of her husband and son, and property documents were confiscated. After all this, Nirmala was made to disappear in 2075 BS. Although it is said that Nirmala died suspiciously in India across the border, her condition is still unknown.
Rights activists including Ruby Khan claim that after Nirmala's husband, who owned a lot of land, died in 2062 BS, both her sons and she were killed to grab her land. Nepali Congress leader Badshah Kurmi is accused of being involved in this incident.
Badshah, who was also a member of the Constituent Assembly in 2064 BS, is Nirmala's neighbor. Kurmi is still a member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly. Kurmi, who was a candidate from an eight-party alliance including the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Center, was made a minister even though there was a demand to stop her from taking the oath as an MP.
Badshah had abused Nirmala in a public place on Magh 20, 2066 BS when she was returning from the District Administration Office when she reached her village. Nirmala, who was kidnapped and taken to her house and held hostage, was rescued by the police on Magh 21. No action was taken against Badshah, however. After women's rights activists protested and demonstrated against the incident, Badshah apologized and returned Nirmala's documents.
But even after that, Nirmala said that she had not stopped being intimidated, threatened, and abused. In the meantime, Nirmala suddenly disappeared on the night of Magh 25, 2075. Two years later, news of Nirmala's death spread.
Rights activists, however, have been continuously protesting, demanding action against Badshah, claiming that Nirmala did not disappear but was kidnapped and murdered by Badshah's group. Rights activists have repeatedly sat on dharnas before this, demanding justice for Nirmala Kurmi and an investigation into Congress leader Badshah.
On Asoj 26, 2078, an investigation committee was formed under the leadership of Hiralal Regmi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The committee had directed an investigation into Badshah Kurmi. Then, in Falgun 2079, a special investigation team led by Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Acharya conducted an investigation. Rights activists are angry that the case has not been brought to court even after the investigation.
The Women's Rights Forum had filed a complaint with the Banke police on Chaitra 20, 2077, claiming that Badshah Kurmi himself had kidnapped Nirmala, taken her to India and murdered her.
