Land Rights Movement Nepal has protested by surrounding the District Administration Office, East Nawalparasi on Tuesday. The protest rally, which started from Thana Chowk in the district headquarters, Kawasoti, turned into a demonstration and sit-in in front of the District Administration Office via Thakali Chowk. They protested by raising slogans such as: Amend the Forest Act, Whose land is ploughed, whose house is dug, Stop the dozer terror, Ensure land and housing rights, Stop squatting. Speaking at the protest, General Secretary of Land Rights Nepal Hemraj Dahal warned that they would launch a nationwide protest against the government for using dozers on land and houses that have been cultivated for years. The protesters also raised slogans against the government, saying that the current government is using dozers and making people homeless in places where landless and squatters have been taking shelter for years. Landless and squatter residents have been protesting in the district on a daily basis.
