The District Administration Office, Dang has issued a notice to vacate encroached land. The District Administration Office issued a notice to vacate encroached land after a meeting held on April 15 with the participation of local level representatives.

A meeting of stakeholders held in Ghorahi under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Bishwa Prakash Aryal had decided to immediately remove the encroached illegal structures.

The meeting decided to remove the houses and huts built on the land of Rapti Institute of Health Sciences, Ghorahi, District Administration Office, Ghorahi, Regional Police Residential School, Lamahi, Area Police Office, Tulsipur, Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur, Nepal Sanskrit University, various campuses, schools, and government bodies.

The meeting decided to strictly stop new encroachments, collect data to remove illegal occupation, publish information, and conduct a special campaign by the concerned local level in coordination with other stakeholders. It has also been decided that the concerned local level will collect data on the actual landless squatters living in the encroached areas and arrange for the necessary facilitation of alternative management. Following the decision, the local level has started collecting data on squatters.

Similarly, the District Administration Office has also informed such people to apply within 10 days as the actual squatters can be managed elsewhere.

Landless, squatters, freed Kamaiya and Guthi-affected farmers have been agitating after the administration's decision and notification. They have protested in Ghorahi, Tulsipur and Bhalubang and protested against the administration's notification. They are protesting demanding that the squatters not be evicted.

The Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) Dang has opposed the use of dozers in squatter settlements. District Secretary Tilak Si issued a press release on Sunday, urging the government not to do so as the information that preparations are being made to demolish the houses of squatters and landless people in Dang has frightened the people.

Rastriya Swatantra Party Rapti Rural Municipality President Dron Bahadur GC has issued a press release following the administration's notification and urged the landless and squatter residents not to panic as the government has planned to remove them only after proper management.
