Tansen Municipality has been declared a municipality with full institutional maternity services and full vaccination assurance. Health Branch Chief Jhabindra Neupane informed that the municipality has been declared a municipality with full institutional maternity services as per the process after collecting data on women who gave birth in all 14 wards of Tansen Municipality.

Out of 292 deliveries in the municipality in the previous fiscal year, 100% of women underwent four prenatal check-ups as per the protocol, and 100% of deliveries were made in health institutions, said Chandratara Basyal, Public Health Officer of the Health Branch. The number of women who delivered their babies by skilled midwives is 100%. He also said that 100% of deliveries were made three prenatal check-ups as per the protocol.

District Vaccination and Reproductive Health and Palpa District Coordination Committee Chief Tankanath Khanal, Tansen Municipality Chief Santosh Lal Shrestha, Deputy Chief Pratiksha Gaha Sinjali, Acting Chief of Health Office Palpa Tuk Prasad Pokharel, Acting Chief Administrative Officer Durga Bahadur Thapa and others have declared the municipality as having full institutional maternity services and full vaccination assurance. Earlier, all 14 wards within the city were declared as wards with full institutional maternity services.

After all the wards are declared, there is a rule that the local level should send a recommendation to the district health office for declaration. Accordingly, there is a provision to declare a municipality with full institutional maternity services after the representative of the District Reproductive Health Coordination Committee verifies that the criteria set by the local level have been met after on-site monitoring and gives permission, informed Pokharel, Acting Chief of Health Office Palpa.

A committee at the local level should conduct a simple survey of at least 10 percent of the households with a birth rate and recommend that the criteria be met as prescribed. When the criteria are met, the concerned ward is given a certificate of being a ward with full institutional maternity services. Only then will the local level be declared as having been ensured, said Bishwanath Neupane, a senior officer at the health office.
