A photo exhibition is being held with the aim of supporting the tourism sector of Gulmi on a personal initiative. Photos of religious, organic rural environments, traditional significance and tourist areas are on display in the open space where the Gulmi Festival is being held.
Dinesh Basnet of Gulmidurbar Rural Municipality-7, Charpala Thulopokhara has put up photos taken by himself in the exhibition. He said that although he is working in the banking sector, he started taking photos and exhibited them with his interest and the idea of introducing Gulmi. He has been involved in the field of photography for 15 years and has been taking photos for the last three years, dedicating more time to them. Basnet, who has gained popularity through his photos, has been introducing Gulmi through various photos.
Basnet, who is currently working at the Tamghas branch of Garima Bikas Bank, invests more than three hundred thousand rupees in a camera out of passion and captures photos. The photos he has put up in the exhibition include farming, religious places, Resunga area, mountains visible from Gulmi, birds, Charpala Durbar, historical and old roads, photos of rural environments and temples, as well as historical photos that introduce Gulmi. He also said that he was interested in photography and the idea of introducing Gulmi to the district headquarters Tamghas Bazaar, a village covered in clouds, a plane flying over Resunga Airport, organic photos. He said that he had entered this area with the idea of introducing Gulmi through tourism. 'I have been interested since I was a child,' he said, 'I have been taking photos of this area along with my job.'
He has put up a photo exhibition at the festival at a personal expense of Rs 40,000. He has entered the photo exhibition to attract tourists to Gulmi and hopes that tourists will think of staying for a few days through the photos.
The festival visitors are looking at it in an interesting way, the older generation is happy to see the original house of Gulmi, the Charpala Durbar, and the photo exhibition has become an attractive aspect of the festival.
Basnet, the exhibitor, is happy after the feedback that wildlife photographer Raj Adhikari of Bardaghat, Jeevan Panjiyar Tharu of Udayapur and Sandeep Sharma of Baglung have helped to encourage the photo exhibition.
