Police have arrested 13 drug dealers and users from various places including Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality, Gulariya, and Bansgadhi Municipality in Bardiya who were coming through the Indian border.

Police said they were taken into custody in a sweep operation conducted on Thursday afternoon and night.

DSP Pramesh Bista, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Bardiya, said that 2,480 milligrams of drugs, including a brown powder that looks like brown sugar, were seized from two of the arrested people.

‘We have taken 11 people into custody during the investigation,’ he said, ‘The police have started a sweep operation in Bardiya, which is becoming a hub for drugs. The Indian border markets of Balaigaun and Laukahi are considered to be drug trafficking points.’
