Industrialists and businessmen of West Nawalparasi have demanded that the members of the House of Representatives elected from the district remove the procedural hassles faced by industrialists and businessmen.
The industrialists made this demand at a discussion program among stakeholders for economic development and industrial prosperity organized by the Nawalparasi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Along with political change, there should be an investment environment for industrialists and businessmen, and if an environment of investment assurance is created, Nawalparasi district will develop industrially and economically.
Members of the House of Representatives Bikram Khanal, Narendra Kumar Gupta and Rigal Yadav, among others, participated in the program.
Speaking at the program, MP Khanal expressed his commitment to vigorously raise the problems faced by businessmen in the federal parliament and take initiatives to amend the necessary laws and regulations for industrial development.
Similarly, MP Gupta said that emphasis should be placed on export-oriented industries by making maximum use of local resources and means. MP Rigala Yadav said that attention should be paid to industries that use raw materials available domestically rather than those that are self-employed and have to be imported from abroad.
Birendra Agrahari, former president of the Nawalparasi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, complained that businessmen were being harmed due to the procedural hassles and lack of infrastructure faced by the private sector. Most businessmen said that the state should bring a change in the way it views industrialists.
At the program, Om Prakash Agrahari, president of the Nawalparasi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed his belief that Nawalparasi can be made a model economic center of the country only if the private sector and the government move forward together, as it is the economic backbone of the district.
