Two Nepali children have been stranded in the premises of the railway station in Gorakhpur, India for two weeks. They are currently sheltering in a tea shop in front of the railway station.

Anil Kumar Gupta, president of the Bharat-Nepal Maitri Samaj in Gorakhpur, told Kantipur that he went to the place after receiving information that the children were stranded. According to Gupta, they have stated that their home is Thapadanda in Pyuthan Municipality, Nepal.

They are siblings from the same house. Sister Isha Bohara is about 13 years old and brother Sudeep is about 7 years old. They reached Gorakhpur on a journey without a destination. They said that their mother left home after her father died and got married again.

The real reason for the children leaving home has not been revealed. Gupta said that the meaning of leaving home after not receiving family love is understood from their statements.

‘Since the Indian administration does not have accurate details about them, I am giving all the information about them to the Indian police in Gorakhpur,’ said Gupta. ‘Although they are currently under the shelter of the tea shop owner, they are not safe from various risks.’

According to Gupta, the tea shop owner who sheltered them said that they were found wandering on the road in front of the railway station two weeks ago. The tea shop owner said that she had given them shelter because there was a Nepali girl of the same age as her daughter and that the girl could be at risk.

When she went to the shop, Sudeep was the only one there and when she inquired about Isha, the tea shop owner replied that she had sent her to her relative’s house in PPgunj near Gorakhpur. "I kept telling Sudeep to go home for an hour, but he refused to go home," said Gupta. "I have asked the tea shop owner to keep them in her care until further notice." According to Gupta, they are in a tea shop next to the Irrigation Department office in front of Gate No. 1 of Gorakhpur Railway Station. When asked why they were kept there, the tea shop owner said that he was protecting them so that they would not be in any danger. Gupta said that the shop owner told him that the space was too small for them and that he would not mind taking the children with him.
