The bodies of two youths who went missing after drowning in the Kaligandaki River in Khanigaun, Baganaskali Rural Municipality-7, Palpa on Tuesday have been found.
29-year-old Toyanath Basyal (Madan) of Jhirbhanjyang, a teacher at Chandra Secondary School in Ward No. 9 of Baganaskali Rural Municipality, was found dead on Wednesday morning, while the body of 39-year-old Sharan Bhusal of Chappani Bhusalgaun, Baganaskali Rural Municipality-9, was found on the banks of the Kaligandaki River near Dailatung on Thursday morning, according to the District Police Office, Palpa.
The two youths went missing while swimming in Dailatung on the Kaligandaki River to celebrate the New Year. Local Krishna Prasad Bhusal said that a joint team of local residents, police and security personnel intensified the search after the drowning. Hom Prakash Chaudhary, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Palpa, said that the bodies of both the men were found after a continuous search.
The police, under the command of a police inspector, arrived after locals informed them that a man had drowned while swimming at around 5 pm on Tuesday. The police and local residents searched the banks of the Kaligandaki River.
The missing person is a teacher of engineering at Chandra Secondary School, Chappani. Bhusal had returned from abroad on vacation. As both of them belong to the same village, grief has gripped Chappani and Jhirbhanjyang. The police have requested the public to exercise necessary caution when going to the river and risky places. The police have stated that they are conducting further investigation into the incident.
