The impact of the increase in the price of petroleum products has affected the construction industry. Entrepreneurs have been reducing the number of construction workers.

Due to the impact of the Iran-US, Israel conflict, the increase in the price of petroleum products has led construction entrepreneurs to reduce workers rather than stop work.

According to Rajendra KC, General Secretary of the Construction Entrepreneurs Association, Palpa, the number of workers has also been reduced because the increase in the price has not been able to move forward with any work. 'Businesses that had 50/60 workers until a month ago have now had to work with 5/7 people,' he said, 'We have reached a situation where we cannot get any work done.'

He said that the increase in the price of diesel has affected every construction sector. General Secretary KC said that the instability of the domestic market has further affected the uncontrolled increase in the price of construction materials by businessmen.

If the situation continues like this for a few more days, construction projects in Palpa will come to a standstill, said Palpa President Damodar Gaire. The association has held a press conference in Tansen and said that the current situation should be declared a 'construction emergency'.

Chairman Gaire said that the recent unexpected price hikes in fuel, tar, cement, iron-based materials, and gravel have put entrepreneurs in trouble. He said that the government's attention has been drawn to the arrangement for extending the deadline for entrepreneurs.

He said that the repeated price hikes in fuel products such as diesel, petrol, and kerosene have brought transportation and production costs to an unsustainable level. Chairman Gaire said that the price hikes and problems seen in the crusher industry have led to an extreme shortage of construction materials.

Senior Vice President of the Association Bishnu Bahadur Karki insists that the government should immediately declare a 'construction emergency' and provide relief to entrepreneurs. He said that the Kaligandaki Corridor, road construction contracts, building construction and other works in the district have been affected.

The price hike has created a situation where the work of big projects in the district has to be stopped and the current crisis will not be solved by the existing legal system alone, said District General Secretary of the Association KC. He said that the government should immediately issue a price adjustment guideline. 'If the demands of the construction entrepreneurs are ignored, the construction work will be completely stopped,' he said, 'We have alerted them in time. We want the government to pay attention to this.' Kamalraj Timilsena, President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Palpa, said that the halting of development and construction works will have a direct impact on the capital expenditure of the general public and the state.
