The number of pilgrims visiting the Supa Deurali Temple, a religious tourist destination, on the first day of the New Year is significant. There was a rush of religious tourists from early morning to evening on Tuesday.
They had reserved vehicles from various parts of India and Nepal to enter the temple. Supa Deurali Temple is one of the 100 destinations in Nepal.

From which an offering of Rs 210,000 has been collected. ‘There is a religious belief that after visiting the Supa Deurali Temple on the first day of the New Year, it will be auspicious for 365 days, work will be successful and good,’ he said, ‘Private vehicles, public vehicles, buses, minibuses, and EVs including vehicles were reserved.’ The glory of the temple is increasing every year.'
The vehicles of the devotees who came to visit were arranged. The vehicles were parked two km away from the temple. To avoid traffic jams, the vehicles were parked at the Supa Khela in the Sandhikharka area and the Lahure in the Shitganga area and the pilgrims were brought to the temple on foot. Sandhikharka Municipality Chief Krishna Prasad Shrestha said that there is a lot of crowd during the New Year and on other days, a thousand pilgrims enter the temple daily. He said that more plans will be made to build tourist infrastructure and a dharamshala building in the cold Narpani-Supa Deurali area, which is two km away from the temple.
‘Its religious significance is unique,’ he said, ‘Many devotees have come to pray for happiness and peace in the family and success in work on New Year’s Day and to fulfill their vows. Since it is summer in the Terai and India at this time, the number of people who come to the hills to beat the heat, travel and visit the temple on New Year’s Day is increasing every year.’ Twelve homestays are also operating in Narpani of Sandhikharka Municipality-6 for cheap and comfortable stay for tourists who come here.
Binod Sigdel, who came from Jhapa to visit the temple, said that he believes that after visiting the Supa Deurali temple on New Year’s Day, he will get happiness, peace and progress in work throughout the year. ‘I came after my friends told me and read about the temple in the news,’ he said, ‘I also went on a religious tour.’ When I came here to visit, look at the high mountains and walk around, I felt calm and happy.''
He said that while visiting, he prayed that the country's economy, including his own, would become strong, that the government would be successful in creating employment opportunities in the country, and that the youth would be less compelled to go to Gulf countries for employment.
