The Divisional Forest Office, Banke, has collected about Rs 4.3 million in revenue by auctioning bicycles and wooden blocks that have been lying around the office premises for years.
According to Shankar Prasad Gupta, Senior Divisional Forest Officer of the Divisional Forest Office, Banke, bicycles and wooden blocks that were recovered from various places in the district at different times were sold through the auction process.
According to him, a revenue of Rs 4.286 million excluding VAT was collected from the sale of 119 bicycles and 2501.93 cubic feet of wooden blocks made of khayar, sal, sagun, etc. that had been lying around the office premises for years. He said that Rs 79 thousand was received from the sale of bicycles and Rs 4.27 million from wood. He informed that the management of old materials lying around the office premises would be gradually expanded to other sub-divisional forest offices.
According to the office's information officer, Senior Forest Officer Tanka Gurung, the proceeds from the auction sale have been deposited in the provincial government's reserve fund. He said that 922 cubic feet of chopped timber of various species are now in the auction process.
