The family of 23-year-old Jitendra Yadav, alias Arun, who died after being shot by security personnel during a dispute between two communities in Maharajgunj Municipality-2, Bargada, has demanded compensation and relief. Yadav, who was shot on Chaitra 20, died on Monday while undergoing treatment.
Federal MP Abhishek Pratap Sah has demanded strict action against the culprits by forming a high-level impartial investigation committee in the House of Representatives meeting as the families of the deceased and injured victims of the incident have not received justice.
Similarly, Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Nawaraj Lamichhane has also demanded a fair and credible investigation into the incident and bringing the culprits to justice. He has issued a statement declaring the deceased a martyr and demanding that the state show respect and provide fair compensation to the victim's family. He has urged to ensure free and effective treatment for the injured in the incident.
Similarly, former National Assembly member Driganarayan Pandey has also demanded a transparent investigation into the firing during the peaceful protest and the failure to effectively treat the injured and strict action against the culprits as per the law. He has urged to create an environment of peace, security and trust in the district by providing employment to the families of the deceased.
Yadav died on Monday morning during treatment at the Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur. His cremation has not been carried out even though he was brought on Monday night. His body has been kept at the Kapilvastu Hospital in Taulihawa. Three other people were injured in the incident.
Nandalal Yadav, the grandfather of the deceased, said that the body was not taken away because their demands were not met. Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Nawaraj Gautam claims that the body has not been recovered even though the demands of the deceased family have been met. Despite a meeting held at the District Administration Office on Tuesday between the deceased's family, local stakeholders, and the administration, the cremation of the deceased has not been possible due to lack of agreement.
