Services have been launched from well-equipped buildings at Siluwa and Jalpa health posts in Palpa. With the inauguration of the newly constructed building, it will be easier for the locals of Siluwa and Jalpa to receive health services.
The construction of the health post building in Purbakhola-2 Jalpa was completed at a cost of Rs 26 million, said Mohan Dhakal, head of the rural municipality health branch. Dhakal said that Rs 18.7 million was provided by the federal government, Rs 1.5 million by the Lumbini provincial government and Rs 4 million by the rural municipality. The Lumbini provincial government is continuing the work by allocating an additional budget of Rs 2.5 million to complete the remaining work.
Lumbini provincial Health Minister Khem Bahadur Saru and rural municipality chair Nun Bahadur Thapa inaugurated the newly constructed building in Jalpa. Similarly, Rs 16.5 million 53 thousand has been spent by the federal government for the building of the Siluwa health post.
Despite the estimated cost of 21.266 million, the construction contractor has reduced the work by 22.15 percent, said Raju Nepal, the Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality. The Siluwa Health Post building was inaugurated by Lumbini Province Health Minister Khem Bahadur Saru, Chairman of the Economy, Industry and Tourism Committee and Lumbini Province Assembly member from Palpa Constituency 1 (1) Raju Shrestha, and Rural Municipality Chairman Nun Bahadur Thapa.
The Siluwa Health Post was established as a sub-health post in 2051 BS. Ward Chairman Giriman Ale said that before that, services were provided from a building near Janmarg Secondary School, Maslang, for 17 years. In 2068 BS, it was upgraded from a sub-health post to a health post and was operating in a small tent in Darsingbhanjyang in recent years.
Health Post Chief Rupesh Kumar Mandal said that the construction of the building as per the standards was completed 12 years after it was upgraded to a health post. There is a Siluwa Health Post and a Siluwa Community Health Unit, Tamakhani. These health institutions have nine health workers and two office assistants. There are 11 female community health volunteers in the ward.
