Police have arrested two people from the Transport Management Office, Butwal, for acting as middlemen in the delivery of government services.

Two people who were being monitored by plainclothes police on Thursday were arrested for taking commission in the name of facilitating service recipients. The arrested are Saroj Khanal, director of New Himal Driving Institute, who has a permanent residence in Chandrauta, Shivaraj Municipality-3, Kapilvastu, and Kusum Marasini, 37, director of Chhatrabhoomi Online Service, who has a permanent residence in Resunga Municipality-9, Gulmi and currently lives in Belbas, Butwal Sub-metropolitan City-13.

They have been kept at the Area Police Office, Butwal for further investigation, said Nishant Srivastava, Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police, Butwal. “We have also increased surveillance in other government offices,” he said, “Citizen convenience in the delivery of public services is the priority of the police.” He also said that the police have started strict surveillance on those involved in corruption and irregularities.
