Rapti Institute of Health Sciences has conducted a comprehensive cancer consultation and testing camp on Friday. More than 300 people underwent tests in the camp, said Prof. Shyam Lamsal, Acting Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of the institute.
Lamsal informed that 21 people from the medical field, 193 from the gynecological field and 72 from the surgical field underwent tests in the camp. He said that the institute has taken the initiative to start cancer services and the camp will facilitate the identification and treatment of cancer patients.
The camp was conducted with the technical support of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur, Chitwan. Specialist doctors and staff working in various departments of the Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur and the institute provided services in the camp.
Specialist doctors from the cancer hospital, Medical Oncology Dr. Vivek Kandel, Breast Surgery Dr. Anup Bhattachan, Urology Dr. Bodhraj Gautam, Gynecology Dr. Asmita Oli, examined the camp.
Acting Vice Chancellor Lamsal said that the camp was held as per the agreement made with the Cancer Hospital to collaborate for cancer treatment services at the institute and that it will be continued in the coming days. The camp included cancer tests for women's uterus, breast, vagina, etc.
