Former SSP Bikram Singh Thapa, who was said to have a role in controlling law and order, crime and hooliganism when he was in the police, has returned to his old 'action' as soon as he started his parliamentary journey. Although he does not have the role of a police officer like before, he is committed to maintaining peace, security and harmony in the society by maintaining peace and order in the district.

Thapa, who retired from police service for 27 years, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). When he went to the federal capital Kathmandu to take oath, a clash broke out between the Hindu and Muslim communities in Bargada village, Maharajgunj-2, on Chaitra 27. Temples and mosques were vandalized. A prohibitory order was issued in Maharajgunj Municipality. As soon as he received the news that the district was in turmoil, Thapa returned from Kathmandu that same night. He arrived at the district headquarters, Taulihawa, at midnight and participated in an all-party coordination/harmony meeting organized by the district administration on the morning of Chaitra 28.

Thapa took the initiative to take action against the culprits and maintain social harmony in the meeting. On the same day, at noon, the crowd burned tires outside the administration building and chanted slogans. Immediately, the administration issued a prohibitory order prohibiting gatherings, meetings and assemblies in most parts of Kapilvastu Municipality and Mayadevi and Suddhodana Rural Municipality until further orders. As tensions began to rise, he took the initiative to work with his experience of holding commands in places including the capital Kathmandu and Lalitpur while working in the police. Thapa, who understood the psychology of crowd control well while in the police, intensified individual, bilateral and group meetings.

He convinced by emphasizing peace, harmony and reconciliation rather than debate and conflict. He persuaded and begged everyone to abandon prejudice. He is considered to have the ability to assess and plan for difficult situations and work, and urged people to maintain peace, harmony and compassion. He met the families of those injured in the incident. He visited Bargada village, the site of the incident, and inspected the vandalized temple and mosque. He spoke to the locals. He met Pradeep Kumar Pasi, Rahul Maurya, and Mahendra Raidas, who were injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment at the Bhairahawa Medical College, and went to the hospital. He went to Chitwan to meet Arun Yadav of Maharajgunj-6, who was seriously injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at the Chitwan Medical College. Yadav's condition is out of danger. Thapa has also coordinated with the local administration and stakeholders to ensure that the treatment of the injured is not delayed. District Police Chief Superintendent Santosh Acharya said that his former officer and newly elected MP Thapa has helped in normalizing the uncomfortable situation that arose in the district after the incident on Chaitra 20. 'Thapa has a long experience in maintaining peace and security,' he said, 'that is why he helped in quickly making the situation comfortable.'

While meeting the injured, MP Thapa said that it is a matter of concern that the force used while maintaining peace was more than necessary. MP Thapa said that along with the responsibility of maintaining peace, it is necessary to give equal priority to the safety, rights and human sensitivity of the citizens. After the incident, civic leader Rashid Mirza Baig said that MP Thapa's efforts to normalize peace and security in the district and make daily life easier were good.

Thapa, who was nicknamed Singham in the police and established himself as a police officer who investigated crimes, controlled hooliganism and neutralized underground groups that created terror in the Terai, has entered the parliamentary journey. Thapa, who spent the energetic time of his life in the police service, entered politics in 2074 BS after retiring.
