36 bicycles have been distributed to the Badghars and Chowkidars of the Tharu community in 36 toles formed from Wards 1 to 8. Taptaraj Acharya, the head of the rural municipality's administration branch, said that the bicycles were distributed to them at a cost of four hundred thousand rupees.
According to rural municipality chairman Prakash Bahadur Shahi, the bicycles have been distributed to the Badghars and Chowkidars to make it easier for them to move around. There is a tradition of Badghars and Chowkidars lobbying to resolve disputes within the Tharu community.
It is a tradition for the Tharu community to collectively select the Badghars and Chowkidars in Maghi every year. The Badghars of Baijnath have said that they have received a lot of relief after the rural municipality distributed the bicycles.
