The local administration has banned vehicle movement after small and large stones fell in the Siddhababa area of the Siddhartha Highway due to heavy rain since Friday.
Small stones fell in the Siddhababa area even on Friday afternoon. After it started raining since Saturday morning, vehicles have been banned in the Siddhababa area of Tinau Rural Municipality-3, under the Tansen-Butwal road section of the highway. Hom Prakash Chaudhary, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Information Officer, District Police Office, Palpa, said that vehicles will be allowed to operate as soon as the weather improves.
Chaudhary said that vehicles have been banned for a few hours as it is risky to operate vehicles at present. It has been raining in this area since Friday. There is a risk on the Siddhartha Highway from Dobhan Police Post to Chidiyakhola. Even though the tunnel is being constructed, the stones have not stopped falling outside it.
Bishnu Prasad Pandey, a local of Tinau Rural Municipality-3, Dobhan, said that there is a problem of small and large vehicles falling into landslides after the rain. The continuous rain also causes additional problems for passengers.
Since vehicles are not allowed to operate for a few hours to protect against possible risks, local transport entrepreneurs have also urged people not to leave their homes except for essential work through social media.
Bhabindra Gautam, the office chief of Srinagar Transport Entrepreneur Company Pvt. Ltd., said that they have urged people not to operate vehicles and not to travel except for essential work. The police have not allowed vehicles coming from Butwal to pass through the Lower Siddhababa area and vehicles coming from Tansen to Butwal from the Dobhan police post.
Passengers going from Butwal to Pokhara, Syangja, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Baglung via the Siddhartha Highway and vehicles and passengers going from there to Butwal are moving back and forth. Due to the rocks falling from the top of the mountain in the upper part, the passengers will not be able to walk even on foot.
