Five protesters and two policemen were injured in police firing amid the prohibitory order in Maharajgunj Municipality.
A clash took place between protesters and police at Jigana Crossroads, West of Bargdagaun, Maharajgunj Municipality-6. Acting Chief District Officer Bhavishwara Ghimire said that the three injured are being treated at Shivraj Hospital, Bahadurgunj. According to him, work is underway to collect the details of the injured.
On Saturday, a dispute broke out during Eid prayers at a mosque in the Muslim community, which led to stone pelting. Acting Chief District Officer Ghimire issued a notice after the incident, prohibiting gatherings, meetings, processions and demonstrations from 2 pm until further orders in the East Bargadi Bridge, West Bahadurgunj Chowk, North Maharajgunj Bazaar and South Hardauna areas of Maharajgunj Municipality. The injunction has been issued in accordance with Section 6, Section 3A of the Local Administration Act 2028. Acting District Magistrate Ghimare said that those violating the order will be taken into custody and action will be taken as per the law. Protests are also currently underway in Bahadurgunj Bazaar of Krishnanagar Municipality, where a prohibitory order has been imposed regarding the incident.
