With the onset of dry season, the Division Forest Office, Palpa, held a forest fire management demo exhibition in Srinagar Danda forest of Tansen on Wednesday.
The demo exhibition was held to teach security personnel, employees, and consumer groups how to manage flammable materials as a preparation for fire control. Senior Division Forest Chief Mohan Prasad Shrestha said that the demo exhibition was held to prevent large and dangerous fires by integrating flammable materials and starting controlled fires in collaboration with community forests near human settlements.
He said that a lot will be learned from the demo to protect human settlements and other physical structures from fires under the Forest Fire Week. The army, police, Armed Police Force, employees, and local consumers worked together to create a fire line and start a controlled fire.
Division Forest Chief Shrestha informed about the management of the forest fire in the forest area, the need to take initiatives to adopt vigilance, and the current situation in the district. Kalpana Bhandari, chairperson of the Community Forest Users Federation Lumbini, said that the errors seen in the past should be corrected and security mechanisms in the user committees, sub-divisions, police posts and rural areas should be mobilized promptly.
Khil Bahadur Tamang, information officer of the Division Forest Office, said that forest fire control would be conducted effectively based on the suggestions of the security bodies as well as the concerned bodies. The Division Forest Office and the Armed Police Force, Palpa, also exhibited the necessary materials for fire control during the program.
