Newly constructed houses have been handed over to six needy families in Satyawati Bauridanda, Tinau Rural Municipality-4. With the joint investment of Tinau Rural Municipality, the state and the federal government, new houses have been handed over to families who lost their homes due to natural disasters.
Pawisara Ale, Hum Bahadur Gaha, Tul Bahadur Gaha, Yam Bahadur Darlami, Yanisara Gaha and Kopilasara Rana, who were displaced after their homes were damaged beyond living condition by floods and landslides, have received new houses to live in. The funds received from the District Disaster Management Fund and a grant of Rs 400,000 per family have been provided through Tinau Rural Municipality.
Despite receiving a grant of Rs 400,000, the insufficient amount has been invested by the homeowners themselves. ‘In addition to the grant amount, we have our own additional funds and labor,’ said local Tul Bahadur Gaha, ‘After the government showed the way, we have built safe houses according to our ability.’
Tinau Rural Municipality Chairman Prem Shrestha said that while handing over the houses, the beneficiaries were selected based on the police bond, on-site recommendation of the ward office and the criteria of actual poverty.
Lal Bahadur Thapa, Vice Chairman of the Rural Municipality, said that 3 more extremely poor families have been recommended for house construction in the current fiscal year. A total of 42 beneficiaries from not only Tinau Rural Municipality but also Tansen Municipality, Baganaskali Rural Municipality, Nisdi Rural Municipality, Ribdikot Rural Municipality, and Purbakhola Rural Municipality in the district have also received money for private house reconstruction.
Menka Pandey in Baganaskali Rural Municipality, Khimouti Palli in Nisdi Rural Municipality, Harisara Soti, Barisara BK, Gopisara Kami, Thanbir Soti, Khagisara Soti, Pavi Thapa, Dhan Bahadur Soti, Thug Bahadur Soti, Beg Bahadur Palli have received assistance for private house reconstruction. The District Administration Office has stated that construction work is underway accordingly.
Similarly, in Ribdikot Rural Municipality, Ganesh Sunar, Man Bahadur Boudel, Saroj Damai, Tak Bahadur Damai, Savita Nepali, Binu Pariyar, Rajendra Bishwakarma, Yaman Singh Bohora, Madhumaya Gharti, Birkha Bahadur Rana, Ana Bahadur Thapa, Bishnu Bishwakarma, Badri Prasad Bhattarai, Anisara/Buddhiman Bishwakarma, Ram Bahadur Ranabhat, Laxmi Kumari Rana have also received assistance.
Similarly, in Purbakhola Rural Municipality, Top Bahadur Shrestha, Jagisara Saru, Durg Bahadur Bishwakarma, Dilliraj Dhakal, Tek Bahadur Thada, Pahal Singh Saru, Teman Singh Saru, Ashok Bishwakarma and Bhim Bahadur Rana Magar have also received assistance for the reconstruction of private residences.
The beneficiaries will receive a total of 4 lakhs from a partnership of 60 percent federal government, 30 percent Lumbini provincial government and 20 percent local government, said Assistant Chief District Officer Rishiram Subedi, Information Officer of the District Administration Office, Palpa.
According to him, the federal, provincial and local levels will share 60 percent, 30 percent and 20 percent of the budget and deposit it in a lump sum fund. He said that the payment will be made only after the federal, provincial and local level budgets are received in the District Disaster Management Fund.
The District Administration Office will request budget from other bodies and after receiving the lump sum, it will be sent to the relevant Local Disaster Management Fund (local level) for payment based on the report. The first installment will be 50 thousand, the second 2 lakh and the third 1 lakh 50 thousand, the beneficiaries will be identified and paid on the basis of the local level technical report and recommendation and the entry in the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority disaster portal, said Assistant Chief District Officer Subedi.
