Five out of the 10 candidates running for the House of Representatives from Rolpa in the election held on Falgun 21 have had their deposits confiscated.

According to the election law, the District Election Office has stated that the deposits of candidates who fail to secure at least 10 percent of the votes cast will be confiscated.

The candidates whose deposits will be confiscated are Ammar Bahadur Thapa Chhetri of the RPP, Kumar Gharti Magar of the Mongol National Organization, Mekh Bahadur Bista of the Rastriya Janamorcha, Man Bahadur Gharti Magar of the National Republic Nepal, and Dil Bahadur Kami of the Aam Janata Party.  All of them received less than 1,000 votes.

According to the election results, Nepali Communist Party (NCP) candidate Barshaman Pun won with 27,460 votes. Pun's closest rival, Dr. Sudan Kumar Wali of the Nepali Congress, received 12,08 votes. Similarly, Balram Thapa of the National Independent Party received 10,894 votes and Gokul Prasad Gharti of the UML received 9,933 votes. Similarly, Chudamani Wali, the candidate of the CPN (Maoist), received 3,714 votes.

According to the election law, there is a provision that candidates for members of the House of Representatives must pay a deposit while registering their candidacy. There is a provision that if they receive less than 10 percent of the valid votes cast, the deposit amount will be forfeited. Here, the deposits of five candidates were forfeited because they could not reach 10 percent of the valid votes.
