In Palpa, the bail of 23 people, including a former minister, has been forfeited. There were 29 candidates, 13 in Zone 1 and 16 in Zone 2. Out of 13 candidates in Zone 1, only three secured the bail.
In this region where Nepali Congress candidate Sandeep Rana won, only UML candidate Narayan Prasad Acharya and Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Bimal Pant secured the bail. There were 9 parties and four independent candidates here. Hum Bahadur Sunari of the Nepali Communist Party, Thaman Singh Reshmi of the National Republic Nepal, Brihaspati Aryal of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Narmati Sinjali of the Rastriya Janamorcha, Salan Chidi Magar of the Mongol National Organization, and Puran Gaire Sharma of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) have had their bail forfeited.
The Election Office has stated that Koshal Aryal, Dilliraj Kafle, Buddha Bahadur Birkatta and Bachha Dali Miya, who had filed as independent candidates, have also failed to secure the bail. In Zone 1, out of a total of 98,383 voters, 54,216 votes were cast directly. Of these, 51,824 votes were valid.
In Zone 2, only three candidates have secured their deposits. In this zone with 16 candidates, Dr. Madhav Bahadur Thapa, the candidate of the National Independent Party, won. Only Nepali Congress candidate Himal Dutta Shrestha and CPN-UML candidate Thakur Prasad Gaire secured their deposits. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Palpa, has stated that the deposits of 13 candidates, including former minister Som Prasad Pandey, who became a candidate from the Nepali Communist Party, have been forfeited.
District President and long-time leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Bal Bahadur Darlami (Bishal) of the Rastriya Janamorcha, Dev Prasad Shrestha of the National Republic Nepal, Top Bahadur Aslami of the Rastriya Janmukti Party, and Khik Bahadur Reshmi of the Janata Samajwadi Party (single election symbol) could not secure their deposits.
Man Bahadur Darlami of the Mongol National Organization, Krishnashoba Musyakhwa of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Ram Bahadur Aslami of the Sovereign Nagarik Party, Bishnu Thadrai (Sarki) of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), and Bodhraj Jaisi of the Progressive Democratic Party did not secure their bail.
Mohan Kunwar Thapa Magar and Keshav Prasad Basyal, who filed as independent candidates, also had their bail forfeited. Out of 109,053 voters in Constituency No. 2, 60,546 votes were cast directly. Out of these, 58,140 votes were confirmed.
The candidates submitted a bail of Rs 10,000 to the office of the Returning Officer during the nomination registration on Magh 22. There is an election law provision that the bail amount of a candidate who fails to secure 10 percent of the confirmed votes will be forfeited.
