Before the counting of votes, representatives of political parties in Rolpa participated in an all-party meeting. Chief District Officer Ganga Bahadur Chhetri said that the meeting began at 10 am and preparations are underway to begin the counting of votes.
The counting of votes will start late as it took more time to bring the ballot boxes from the distant polling stations to the district headquarters, Libang, after the voting ended on Thursday. The ballot boxes were brought to Libang by 4 am on Thursday.
It took time to bring the ballot boxes from the farthest polling station in the district, about 28 kos. The ballot boxes were brought to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Libang under the security of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, Election Police and National Investigation Department personnel deployed for election security.
Candidates from 10 parties were in the fray in the election. Now all that remains is to count the votes. 86 polling stations and 180 polling stations were set up in Rolpa for the election of members of the House of Representatives.
In addition, two additional polling stations were set up for the prison and employees in the district headquarters, Libang. Out of 149,597 voters in the district, 39,110 were women and 30,289 were men. All voters cast 69,408 votes, or 46.39 percent of the votes.
Chief Election Officer Binod Khatiwada said that the election was held peacefully in the district. According to him, preparations are underway to start the counting of votes after the election. All preparations have been made to count the votes at the district-based cottage and small industries office for the counting. He said that a wire mesh has been installed for the security of the counting site and CCTV cameras have also been installed.
Adequate security personnel were deployed in all polling stations and outside areas to conduct a fearless, fair and fraud-free election in Rolpa. According to Pradya Chhetri, the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Election Police were deployed throughout the district. Two separate security bases of the Nepal Army were set up in the eastern and western regions for election security. The army was deployed in those bases under the command of an army major.
For election security, 8 platoons of 4 companies of the Nepal Army were deployed throughout the district, while a base camp, 3 striking forces and 8 mobile teams of the Armed Police Force were deployed.
The Nepal Police had more than 30 police units deployed in all areas. In addition, additional police were deployed under the command of an officer. For election security, 1,29 Nepal Police personnel and 96 election police personnel were recruited in the Armed Police Force in Rolpa.
