Mahendra Yadav, an independent candidate from Rupandehi-3, was arrested on Wednesday evening on charges of banking offences. District Police Spokesperson DSP Krishna Kumar Chand said that Yadav was arrested from Siddharthanagar-6, Gallamandi, as per the order of the District Court.

According to Chand, as per the verdict passed on 25 Falgun 2081, 30 lakhs and a fine of Rs. 10 lakhs was imposed and he was arrested as per the order to produce the defendant in court for the purpose of imprisonment and fine for the amount of the fine. Yadav, a resident of Siddharthanagar-7, Janakpath, had earlier become a candidate from various political parties. This time, he was campaigning as an independent candidate.
